Сюжет Underworld развернется после событий Tomb Raider Legend. Приключения Лары Крофт будут абсолютно новыми. Основной акцент игры сделан на максимально точном переносе мира Лары в компьютерную игру, а также целью стоит сотворение максимально возможной интерактивности игрового пространства. Это означает, что локации новой Tomb Raider будут предрасполагать к большему взаимодействию с игроком, будут им меняться, а изменения – запоминаться и встречать вас в будущем. Был приведен пример одного нового эффекта. Во время дождя, когда Лара идет по грязи и оставляет отпечатки подошвы на земле, со временем эти следы размываются водой. Если Лара встанет по колено в грязь, то нога станет грязной, а потом постепенно отмоется. Графика будет, одним словом, потрясающая. Отлично проработанные погодные эффекты, частично разрушаемый мир, продвинутая система освещения – все это в суме даст реалистичную картинку.
