2K Games решила исполнить мечту поклонников экшена The Darkness,просивших о продолжении четыре года кряду, и анонсировала The Darkness 2.
Главным героем игры вновь станет нью-йоркский мафиози Джеки Эстакадо, одержимый силами Тьмы. Как и прежде, он сможет использовать не только широкий арсенал огнестрельного оружия, но и демонические способности. Например, пару дополнительных рук, позволяющих швырять объекты, не отрываясь от стрельбы.
Над сюжетом трудится известный британский автор комиксов Питер Дженкинс. События сиквела разворачиваются через два года после окончания первой игры. Джеки, ныне возглавляющий клан Франчетти, готовится к войне между мафиозными группировками.
Разработку The Darkness 2 ведут не шведы из Starbreeze Studios, а канадская Digital Extremes, в числе последних проектов которой: Dark SectorКраткая информация об игре, мультиплеер BioShock 2К. Изменилась и стилистика игры — судя по скриншоту, авторы сильно налегают на cel-shading, чтобы приблизить картинку к оригинальному комиксу.
2K Games планирует выпустить The Darkness 2 этой осенью на PC, Xbox 360 и PlayStation 3.
